SINGULAIR has been evaluated for safety in 476 pediatric patients 6 to 14 years of age. Cumulatively, 289 pediatric patients were treated with SINGULAIR for at least 6 months, and 241 for one year or longer in clinical trials. The safety profile of SINGULAIR in the 8-week, double-blind, pediatric efficacy trial was generally similar to the adult safety profile. In pediatric patients 6 to 14 years of age receiving SINGULAIR, the following events occurred with a frequency ≥ 2% and more frequently than in pediatric patients who received placebo: pharyngitis, influenza, fever, sinusitis, nausea, diarrhea, dyspepsia, otitis, viral infection, and laryngitis.

Do not give this medication to a child without a doctor's advice.

I started taking it for Sport induced Asthma and its great. What has really amazed me is that I was always sick with a cold, Sinus Infection, etc and would suffer with Bronchitis...BAD Bronchitis.. atleast twice a year and I think I have had it ONCE since starting Singular 10 mg and have been on it for a few yrs now.

USES: Monukast is used regularly to prevent the wheezing and shortness of breath caused by asthma and decrease the number of asthma attacks. Monukast is also used before exercise to prevent breathing problems during exercise (bronchospasm). This medication can help decrease the number of times you need to use your rescue inhaler. This medication is also used to relieve symptoms of hay fever and allergic rhinitis (such as sneezing, stuffy/runny/itchy nose).This medication does not work immediay and should not be used to treat sudden asthma attacks or other breathing problems.This drug works by blocking certain natural substances (leukotrienes) that may cause or worsen asthma and allergies. It helps make breathing easier by reducing swelling (inflammation) in the airways.
