Question about pain relief from muscle relaxants (Valium, Xanax

Hi guys, I am nearly 7 weeks post L5/S1 microdiscectomy for a large herniation. I had a setback a few weeks ago and have since been in pain.

Well today I am 7 weeks post op and I woke up compley crooked (torso) just like before the surgery ! Everything was going so well until I had the setback when I kicked the football.

L5-S1 Herniation. 1st MIrcrodiscectomy 11/9/13. 2nd Microdiscectomy 12/19/13.

If you don't feel comfortable about the sudden pain you are in, you can always call your surgeon and let them know what's going on. They may order a MRI or prescribe a new med.

Good luck and I hope you feel better. Keith.

Just went to see the doctor, can't get in contact with my surgeons office because they're on holidays.

If you are able to Crouch down, i highly recommend doing that the next time you have to sneeze!

I myself am 10 days out from L4-L5 posterior fusion and I was given Valium between opioids while it the hospital.

Muscle relaxants for pain management in rheumatoid arthritis

Muscle relaxants for pain management in rheumatoid arthritis

Muscle relaxants include drugs that reduce muscle spasm (for example benzodiazepines such as diazepam (Valium), alprazolam (Xanax).

Based upon the currently available evidence in patients with RA, benzodiazepines (diazepam and triazolam) do not appear to be beneficial in improving pain over 24 hours or one week. The non-benzodiazepine agent zopiclone also did not significantly reduce pain over two weeks. However, even short term muscle relaxant use (24 hours to 2 weeks) is associated with significant adverse events, predominantly drowsiness and dizziness.

We performed a search of the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL) (The Cochrane Library, 4th quarter 2010), MEDLINE (1950 to week 1 November 2010), EMBASE (Week 44 2010), and PsycINFO (1806 to week 2 November 2010).

What is a muscle relaxer high like
Xanax vs Valium - MDJunction

Xanax vs Valium: I know that xanax is supposed to be a tranquilizer but my doc says it also has muscle relaxer qualities. One night when I had.

Xanax: To SLAP the panic attack as soon as it hits and HARD! But, doesn't last long and relax?? YES...cuz it hits you like ton of bricks to put a big wall up to keep the panic from happening...so not only does it calm you down, but if you're not having an 'attack'...it'll relax you and sometimes, knock your butt out!!!

This is just how the doc explained it to me! So, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

Valium: For my anxiety/panic attacks. To help stop them from 'hitting' so hard and keep my calm all of the time. It works long and slow.

Oh and for those of you who don't/haven't taken it....if you can help it...DON'T START. Xanax is one of the number one meds that's most addictive and hard to kick. Valium as well...just not soo hard! But it's hard...believe you me!!!

Craig.

I tried it for my Fibro nerve pain for the first time today, just on a whim as I realized the way my nerves felt was much like what I felt like when I was having anxiety disorder issues and it helped quite a bit. I'll be talking to my dr about this when I see her this week. http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=tfGYSHy1jQs&feature=related.

Here's what I was told.
